SPECIFICATION :GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE MACHINE
The vertical turning lathe SC 25/33 CNC with TWO vertical rail head is designed for machining of large sized castings and fabricated parts of different shapes, by rough and finish operations of:
– Inner and outer turning

The machine is basically designed on the following structure:

– the two column frame, closed by an upper closing cross beam

2 THE MACHINE MAIN UNITS
The Bed and the Table
The bed and the table are made of special cast iron, with strong ribbing providing a high stiffness of the machine. The main shaft is supported on the bed by means of two taper bearings Timken type.
3.2.The Table Drives
The table is equipped with a Heidenhain encoder mounted in the center of the table, with 1,024 pulses,to achieve a working constant speed , feed per revolution , treading.
The table drive is achieved by horizontal power line composed by an DC 60 Kw electrical motor with,continuously variable speed, through a 3 speed rangegearbox to secondary spindle and then tothe table spindle.The speed steps are shifted in the gearbox by a hydraulic mechanism.
3.3.The Frame
The frame consists in two columns, the bed and an upper closing beam; all these parts are made of,special cast iron for machine tools.
The cross rail is displaced along the high precision guide ways of the columns, drive, by an AC asynchronous electrical motor, through two speed reducers and screw – nuts ,mechanism.
For high accuracy of the cross rail position, on the columns are fitted every 200 mm special indexing devices.
3.4.The Cross Rail
The cross rail is a box type part made of cast iron, properly ribbed, provided with highly accurate
grinded guide ways. The cross-rail contents the mechanisms for the horizontal displacement of the
heads ( Fanuc feed motors, ZF ratio 5 backlash free reducers, pre-tensed ball screws) supported
by precision bearings. The heads displacement are checked by a rotary encoders.
The guide ways of the cross frail are protected by covers.
3.5.The Right Vertical Rail Head for turning:
The assembly of right vertical working head consist of the right saddle, the ram support and the right RAM with pentagonal turret head with 5 manual rotation.
– the saddle, horizontally displaceable along the cross rail guide ways – driven by an AC Fanuc 12 Nm electrical feed motor with continuously adjustable speed, through a ZF ratio 5 backlash free reducer and a ball screw – nut mechanism
The saddle displacement is measured and checked by a rotary encoder
– the ram support, mounted onto the slide
– the ram, vertically displaceable inside of the ram support – driven by an AC Fanuc 12 Nm electrical feed motor with continuously adjustable speed, through a ZF ratio 5,backlash free reducer and a ball screw – nut mechanism
The ram displacement is measured by a rotary encoder and hydraulically balanced.
Both the slide ways and the ram support inner surfaces are plated with anti-friction materials,to provide a friction less displacement both (1) of the slide along the cross rail guide ways, and (2) of the ram into the rotary support.
3.6 The Left Vertical Rail Head for turning:
The assembly of left vertical working head consist of the left saddle, the ram support and the left RAM with square section 230 X 235 mm.
– the saddle, horizontally displaceable along the cross rail guide ways – driven by an AC Fanuc 12 Nm electrical feed motor with continuously adjustable speed, through a ZF ratio 5 backlash free reducer and a ball screw – nut mechanism
The saddle displacement is measured by a rotary encoder
– the ram support, mounted onto the slide
– the ram, vertically displaceable inside of the ram support – driven by an AC Fanuc 12 Nm electrical feed motor with continuously adjustable speed, through a ZF ratio 5 backlash free reducer and a ball screw – nut mechanism

3.7 Hydraulic installation
The hydraulic installation of the machine, made with Rexroth and Hansa Flex components, accomplishes the following functions:
– Vertical rams balancing (Z1 and Z2 axis);
– Cross rail indexing.
– Cross rail unlocking;
– Gearbox shifting
– Lubrication of the gearbox and the table main bearing.
3.8 Electrical equipment
The electrical equipment with components Siemens and Schrack consists of an electric cabinet and a control panel. The electric cabinet is placed near the machine. In the cabinet are situated the Fanuc drivers for axis, Siemens driver for main motor the Schneider driver for the 7,5 kW motor of the cross rail and all the conventional components for machine
On the pendant displaceable control panel are placed the Fanuc 0iTD CNC and all controls and signaling elements for the machine.
The electric equipment of the machine SC 25/33 is designed to permit the use the machine like a manual machine from two joy-sticks placed on the control panel
